Sebastiano Ricci (Belluno 1659-Venice 1734)
Head of an old man c. 1716
-
A black and red chalk drawing of a head of an old man, looking downwards. The drawing has not been connected with any particular painting, but it may be a study for a St Joseph. Blunt suggests that the red and black chalk dates the drawing close to 1716, when Ricci visited the studio of Antoine Watteau in Paris and made several copies of his trois-crayons drawings (RCINs 906992, 906993, 906994, 906996).
