Recto: A compositional study for the Entombment. Verso: A study of a three-quarter length nude woman, possibly Mary Magdalen.
The figures in this study for the Entombment have been drawn in a sinuous and fluent drawing style, quickly capturing the scene's arrangement and the general contour of the figures to the right of the tomb. More attention has been paid to capturing the features of Christ and Joseph, who lowers Christ's body into the tomb. For other studies for an Entombment by Figino in the Royal Collection see RCINs 906941 and 906954rv.
On the verso a single kneeling female nude with her hands clasped together, probably shown in the act of praying, perhaps a study for Mary Magdalen.
Inscribed in pen at lower left and right: No69 Michelanglo
