A design for the decoration of a ceiling in the Grotesque style. Like many drawings in this manner, the sheet was formerly attributed to Raphael's associate Giovanni da Udine (see P&W 1949); but this and a long sequence of other drawings by the same artist in the Royal Collection (eg. 910870-82) are now recognised to be by the workshop of Luzio Luzzi (Luzio Romano), a prolific follower of Perino del Vaga.
