A drawing of several tiers of heavenly figures amidst banks of clouds: Catherine is seated in the centre, next to the Virgin and Child. Above God the Father is surrounded by winged putti and angels, whilst at the lowest level angels play musical instruments. Inscribed: di Garzi. This is a study for the fresco decoration of S. Caterina a Formello, Naples. The same designs were later used as studies for the decoration of S. Caterina a Magnanapoli, Rome.

Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani: first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 128: amongst 'Six of Gemignana. One of Luigi Garzi')
