A drawing of a man looking out at the viewer from his draped chair in front of a desk. Amongst the objects on his desk are two globes and numerous books. This is one of a group of four drawings by the artist, clearly showing the influence of Rembrandt.
Provenance
Lot C163 in the Abraham van Broyel sale of October 1759, where recorded as after F. Bol; bought by Pieter Yver (fl.30.10); first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 118: '6 Of the School of Rembrant')
