A drawing of Christ stooping to recover the souls ascending from the arched entrance to hell; his followers stand behind him, on the left, while demons rage and threaten from the walls above. This is a study for the fresco in the Sala del Capitolo in the convent of S Maria in Passione, Genoa, now destroyed (index c.). Derived from the print by Dürer, as catalogued by Schilling.
