A drawing of a river view with two small islands with dwellings in the foreground. Beyond, the wide expanse of the River Zaan. To the right of centre is the sluice, and on the extreme right, the Oostzijderkerk. This is a pair with RCIN 906259, and corresponds with an engraving published in Amsterdam by P. Fouquet Junior in 1783, as an illustration to Receuil des Edifices les plus belles vues de la fameuse ville d'Amsterdam.

Listed in George III's 'Inventory A,' c.1800, p.119 ('Dutch Landscapes'), nos. 1-38: 'Chiefly consisting of neat views of Holland the Masters names mark'd are / Verstien, Schoot, and W. Troost.'
