Attributed to Pietro Testa (1607/11-50)
A kneeling nude model c. 1625-50
-
A study of a nude man, kneeling to the right, with a book(?) held in both hands. There is an indication of drapery around him.
This is unlike any known drawings by Testa, but the inscription appears to date from the early eighteenth century.Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820 (Inv. A, p. 147: 'a Naked figure in red chalk by Pietro Testa')
