Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani: listed in George III's 'Inventory A,' c.1800, p.119 ('Paesi di Gio Fran: Grimaldi Bolognese &ca:'), nos.16-49: '34. Two or three of Millanese, and the remainder various modern Masters / chiefly of the Roman School.'
