Description

A drawing of a landscape with a rocky coast-line, trees and distant ships, and figures in the foreground. Stylistically consonant with a number of landscape drawings by Cortona, delicately drawn extensive landscapes with small busy figures.

Provenance

Listed in George III's 'Inventory A,' c.1800, p.119 ('Paesi di Gio Fran: Grimaldi Bolognese &c^a:'), nos.16-49: '34. Two or three of Millanese, and the remainder various modern Masters / chiefly of the Roman School.'
