A drawing of a scene outside a wayside inn, with figures around a table beneath a rustic arch; with two mounted travellers about to dismount, and a group of card players in the foreground, right; with carriages approaching the inn on the right. RCIN 905733 is a version of this drawing, without the group of card players.

Probably acquired by George III from the collection of Consul Joseph Smith, c.1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-20 (Inv. A, p.119: 'Paesi Diversi'; '10. Of Millanese a Disciple of Guido')
