A drawing of a scene outside a wayside inn, with figures around a table beneath a rustic arch; with two mounted travellers about to dismount, and other carriages approaching the inn on the right. RCIN 905735 is a version of this drawing, with a group of card players added.

Probably acquired by George III from the collection of Consul Joseph Smith, c.1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-20 (Inv. A, p.119: 'Paesi Diversi'; '10. Of Millanese a Disciple of Guido')
