A design for the entablature of the Baldacchino in St Peter's, Rome (see 905635 for details). At the centre of the frieze is the Barberini symbol of the sun, on a separate piece of paper collaged on.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 114: 'The Ciborio at St: Peters')
