A design for a float for Agostino Chigi for the Carnival of 1658: a winged figure holding the star and the oak-branch of the Chigi arms, and surrounded by allegorical figures of the arts, sits on an elaborate lobed base. Inscribed between the wheels at the bottom: Questo mi dispiacie meno.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 114: 'Two Carrs')
