An open-work metal gate is surmounted by a crest of military trophies around the Colonna arms. This central doorway is flanked by two small square-headed doors with busts of Roman emperors in circular niches above them. With a scale at the lower edge.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820
