A design for the garden gate at the papal palace, Castel Gandolfo, probably built about 1636-7. Above the architrave the papal emblem is set within a broken round pediment.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 114: 'Of Cielings and Church as well as other Architectural Ornaments')
