St Francis c. 1600
-
A drawing of St Francis(?), haloed, in a monk's habit, kneeling to the left.
The drawing was attributed 'sub Arpino and possibly F. Allegrini' by P. Pouncey (note on mount), and accepted as by Arpino himself by H. Röttgen (note on mount); in Blunt (Misc) it was catalogued as 'imitator of Arpino'. An earlier attribution to Cecco Bravo is also inscribed on the reverse of the mount.Provenance
