Giuseppe Passeri (1654-1714)
The Triumph of St Thomas Aquinas
-
A drawing of a youthful figure, with a sun on his monk's habit, sitting in a chariot drawn by two horses. He points to a book held out by a bearded man, beside whom are two putti carrying a crucifix. Two angels fly behind carrying books, and another flies ahead blowing a trumpet. The chariot wheels crush a prostrate figure, and another (?Heresy) shrinks away in the left foreground. In the centre a man presents to the hero of the scene a book supported by two boys, and on the right a woman draws the attention of a man to the scene.
