The Murder of Julius Caesar
-
A drawing showing the assassination of Julius Caesar: the conspirators, all with daggers drawn, surround him as he pulls his toga over his head; to the right elderly senators appear to be in dispute. A strip of paper has been added on the left, apparently by the artist, who has continued two of the figures on it.
Provenance
Probably from the collection of Consul Joseph Smith and bought by George III in 1762
