After Giovanni Baglione (1566-1643)
St Peter and St Paul c.1600-20
-
An offset from a drawing of St Peter and St Paul, both standing, full length. St Peter gestures at the book he is holding while St Paul has one hand at his chin and the other resting on the hilt of his sword. The figures correspond in reverse to those in a painting of 1600 by Baglione in S Cecilia in Trastevere, Rome. A study for the figure of St Paul is in the Hoesch collection (Galleria Portatile, eds. H. Damm and H. Hoesch, 2017, no. 30).
