A study of a seated male nude, turned to the front, with his head in profile to the left. He holds the shin of his raised right leg. Inscribed, lower right; Andrea Sachi.

Probably Carlo Maratta, and thus purchased by Pope Clement XI, 1703; by whom bequeathed to his nephew Alessandro Albani, 1721; from whom purchased by George III, 1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 106: probably one of fourteen studies listed as by Sacchi under 'Accademie di Diversi Autori')
