A drawing of a mock battle bounded in the background by a high curving wall: in the foreground is a cavalry engagement with several figures trampled by the horses, and in the middle ground the seige of a fiortified building is underway. This is a festa display organized within an arena.

Probably from the collection of Consul Joseph Smith and bought by George III in 1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820 (Inv.A, p.85; as 'After Tintoretto')
