Style of Marco Ricci (Belluno 1676-Venice 1730)
A peasant's hut c. 1720-50
-
A drawing of a rustic house with two figures resting at the foot of some steps leading to its entrance. To the right of the building is a large haystack or secondary dwelling. Cattle graze in the foreground.
The pen hatching recalls the style of Marco Ricci, but the figure drawing is not in his manner.Provenance
Probably acquired in 1762 by George III from the collection of Joseph Smith, British Consul in Venice
