A drawing of Nathan standing, full length, in profile to the right, dressed as a Levite, and reading from a book. The book represents the 'book of Nathan the prophet' in which were recorded the histories of David and Solomon. Inscribed below: . NATAN . 7 . This drawing is the only one from a series of thirty four scenes from the Old Testament which did not serve as a preparatory drawing for engravings in reverse by Johannes Sadeler the Elder (Hollstein , XXI, pp.96-7, nos.72-110), designed to illustrate L.Hillesemius, Sacrarum Antiquitatum (Antwerp, 1577). The design for this subject was engraved by A. de Bruyn after P. van der Borcht.
