A drawing of Daniel, full length, seated in an underground chamber lit from above; his hands are clasped and he is flanked by two lions. Two more lions lurk in the background. Inscribed below in a different hand from the other other inscribed drawings: Daniel. This drawing is from a series of thirty four scenes from the Old Testament which, with the exception of RCIN 904742, served as preparatory drawings for 33 of the 39 engravings in reverse by Johannes Sadeler the Elder (Hollstein , XXI, pp.96-7, nos.72-110), designed to illustrate L.Hillesemius, Sacrarum Antiquitatum (Antwerp, 1577).
