A drawing of Solomon seated full length, before a table with a large open book, in which he is about to write with the quill in his left hand. At his feet are more books and instruments fro constructing buildings, and a winged lion. Solomon is presumably shown designing the temple. This drawing is from a series of thirty four scenes from the Old Testament which, with the exception of RCIN 904742, served as preparatory drawings for 33 of the 39 engravings in reverse by Johannes Sadeler the Elder (Hollstein , XXI, pp.96-7, nos.72-110), designed to illustrate L.Hillesemius, Sacrarum Antiquitatum (Antwerp, 1577).
