A drawing of Job, partly naked, standing full length in front of a burning building, with his hands clasped; behind, to the left, two of his sons lay crushed by fallen beams; dead animals are strewn on the ground to the right. Inscribed below: IOB; there are traces of a cut inscription, lower left. This drawing is from a series of thirty four scenes from the Old Testament which, with the exception of RCIN 904742, served as preparatory drawings for 33 of the 39 engravings in reverse by Johannes Sadeler the Elder (Hollstein , XXI, pp.96-7, nos.72-110), designed to illustrate L.Hillesemius, Sacrarum Antiquitatum (Antwerp 1577).
