A study for the painting for St Paul, Lyon, executed by Romanelli during his second stay in France, 1654-57. Attributed to Gimignani in Blunt & Cooke 1960. Formerly placed within the Cortona volumes.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 111: 'Two drawings suppos'd by Filippo Laura. Four of Romanelli amongst them')
