A drawing of the Virgin, standing with Joseph as she delivers the Child into the arms of the High Priest at the altar. There are figures to the left and right, and swathes of drapery hang between the columns behind the figures. See also RCIN 904408.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820 (Inv. A, p.110: among 33 'Drawings of Pietro de Petris. Massuci and other Scholars of Carlo Maratti, excepting one Caricatura by Ghezzi')
