A drawing of the Virgin and Child seated on clouds, appearing to a kneeling bishop; a pair of putti in the foreground refer to a book, and others surround the group. This was catalogued as by Calandrucci, but a copy by Altomonte in the Albertina is inscribed Carlo Marati.
Provenance
The Luti collection; probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani: first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 110: among 'Drawings of Pietro de Petris. Massuci and other Scholars of Carlo Maratti, excepting one Caricatura by Ghezzi')
