A drawing after the cuirassed torso of the statue of Lucius Verus, in the Archaeological Museum, Naples. The Royal Collection has eighteen drawings by Maratti and his studio, after antique sculpture (B(R) 373-392). Some of these are engraved in Jan de Bisschop's Signorum Veterum Icones, c.1672-89.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 109: amongst fifteen studies 'From the Ancient Statues')
