A drawing after a bas-relief showing a pre-nuptial ceremony, the Nova Nupta, formerly in the Palazzo della Valle. A woman kneels washing the feet of a young bride, who sits covering her face with a cloth. This design was engraved by Pietro Santi Bartoli in the Admiranda Vestigia, Pl. 59.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 109: 'Study's from Antique Basso Relievo's')
