A portrait drawing of the head and shoulders of a woman, turned three quarters to the right. She wears a simple cloth headdress and a dress with ties at the shoulders. A woman wearing the same headdress appears in a drawing at Frankfurt, representing a bishop confirming.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 109: 'Portrait of a Country Girl')
