A study of a male nude with his back to the viewer, seated on sloping ground. His left leg is extended and he holds onto a vertical surface with his right hand.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 106: probably one of six studies listed as by Maratti under 'Accademie di Diversi Autori')
