A drawing after the allegorical figure of Faith- a young woman holding the Host, from Raphael's tempera grassa painting of the Baglioni predella in the Vatican Gallery, Rome; circular format with a frame of wreaths. As part of the predella beneath the altarpiece of the Deposition of Christ, this panel was probably placed on the right, with Hope on the left and Charity in the centre. See RCIN 904331, 904333.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 109: 'A Charity. Faith & Hope in rounds')
