A drawing after the figure of a kneeling man, from the tapestry of the Adoration of the Magi, designed by Raphael, hanging in the Scuola nuova, Vatican, Rome. This elderly figure, kneeling with hands together in prayer, appears on the extreme right of the composition. See also RCIN 904299, 904301, 904302, 904307.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 109: 'Four Study's from the Adoration of the Kings & one from the Sacrafice')
