A drawing of the head of an angel, turned in profile to the left. This is probably a school drawing after the angel in the painting of The Agony in the Garden, in the Capella Ludovisi, church of S Isidoro, Rome.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 108: 'Of Heads, Madonnas')
