A drawing of a nude man, kneeling with a book propped on his thigh. This is study for the figure of St Ambrose in the painting of St Charles Borromeo received into glory, in the church of S. Carlo al Corso, Rome. A study for the head of St Charles is in the Barber Institute, Birmingham. See also RCIN 904122, 904123.

Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 107)
