A drawing of two boys, and an ear. The main figure is a study for the kneeling boy in the foreground of the painting of The Agony of St Francis Xavier, in the church of the Gèsu, Rome. The other partly-rendered figure does not occur in the painting.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Albani; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1810 (Inv. A, p. 107)
