A drawing of St Peter, seated on a stone block in his prison cell. An angel leans over him and grasps his arm in order to lead him to freedom. Two prison guards are slumped on the stairs to the left of the cell.

Probably acquired by George III from the collection of Consul Joseph Smith, c.1762; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-20 (Inv.A, p.20: 'Four of the School of Cignani')
