A saint offering Communion to the plague-stricken 1663-64
-
A compositional study of a figure in robes, standing centre, offering the Host to a figure on his sick-bed to left; other plague victims to left and right tended by the saint's assistants; arch and drapery in background. Attribution to Canuti by N. Turner and M. di Giampaolo (notes on mount); A. Czere suggests possibly a study for Canuti's painting of the Blessed Bernardo Tolomei Administering Communion to the Plague Victims in the Pinacoteca, Padua, painted for the church of San Benedetto Novello, Padua, 1663-4 (Stagni 14a).
