A drawing of a draped woman, half length, looking down to the left. The drawing is a study for Reni's painting of The Virgin and Child with the infant Baptist (the 'Tanari Madonna'), formerly one of Reni's most celebrated works but now lost and known through an engraving by Mauro Gandolfi.
A study for the whole figure of the Madonna is in the Fitzwilliam (inv. 2046); further studies for the head of the Madonna are in the Louvre (inv. 8899) and the Academia di San Fernando, Madrid.
