Black and white chalks on blue paper | 21.8 x 17.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 903312

Attributed to Guido Reni (Bologna 1575-Bologna 1642)
The head of a bearded man c.1600-10
-
A drawing of the head of a bearded man, in lost profile to the right. Kurz catalogued the drawing as School of Reni; Babette Bohn proposed that it is autograph (note on mount, 2008), and this may well be correct; if so, it is an early drawing.
Provenance
Listed in George III’s Inventory A, c.1800-20: p. 79, ‘Guido &c. Tom. 3’, among ’15 heads of Guido’.
