A drawing of the heaf of a bearded man, looking to the left. The drawing comes from the Reni sequence, but was identified by Armanda Pellicciari as a study for the man at the far right of Gessi's Martyrdom of St Catherine in Santa Caterina di strada Maggiore, Bologna ('La pratica del disegno all'interno della scuola Reniana...', Bollettino d'Arte, 58, 1989, pp.1-26); see another study for the same painting at 903231.

Listed in George III’s Inventory A, c.1800-20: p. 79, ‘Teste di Guido. Tom. 1’, among ’51 Heads, as Studies for various Pictures amongst which are some exceeding fine Drawings as large as life, all by Guido Rheni, Bolognese’.
