An offset from a drawing of the Madonna, half length, supporting the naked Christ, reclining full length on drapery in front of her. On the left the infant Baptist, holding a scroll in both hands, is shown full length as he walks towards them.
The drawing from which this is an offset is in City of Nottingham Museum and Art Gallery. It bears the collector's mark of Robert Udny (Lugt, no. 2248) and appears to be a drawing of the late period.Provenance
Benedetto and Cesare Gennari; from whose descendants purchased by Richard Dalton for George III, c.1758-63; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820 (Inv.A, p.69: 'Virgin MaryJesus & St Joseph)
