A drawing of full-length figures in which the Maodnna, on the right, kneels on some steps in profile to the right holding two doves; St Joseph stands on the left with his back half turned to the viewer. Possibly connected with The Presentation of the Christ Child, Mahon Collection, London.
Provenance
Bequeathed by the artist to Benedetto and Cesare Gennari; from whose descendants purchased by Richard Dalton for George III, c.1758-63; first recorded in a Royal Collection inventory of c.1800-1820 (Inv.A, p.66: 'Study for a part of a Presentation in the Temple')
