Description

Model of St.George on horse slaying dragon. Whole hanging from scrolled diamond set loop. St.George, horse and lance all of diamonds, cloak of rubies; dragon and grass of emeralds. Flowers on grass and gold sablé ground to whole.

Provenance

Belonged to Friedrich Wilhelm, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who was invested with the Garter in 1862. Includes older cut stones, overall workmanship is most likely German mid-19th century. Purchased by Queen Mary in 1922
