Pietro Faccini (c. 1562-1602)
The Burial of a Carthusian Saint c.1580-1600
-
A drawing of a group of monks, many holding flaming tapers, standing around the body of another borne on a bier. The drawing comes from the Carracci volumes and was catalogued by Wittkower (in W(C)) as School of the Carracci; Wittkower did however note the stylistic and figural similarity to 902194, by Faccini, and an attribution to Faccini was asserted by A. Czere (correspondence, 1992) and M. DiGiampaolo (note on mount, 1992).
Provenance
From the Carracci volumes.
