A photograph of a drawing in the Ambrosian Library, Milan (inv. no.F262 inf. n. 25) copying two figures from the almost entirely destroyed fresco Jacob wrestles with the angel painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the basamento of the sixth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican.
According to Dacos (see Bibliographic References), the basamento paintings of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican were executed in grisaille and imitated bronze reliefs.Provenance
