A chiaroscuro woodcut by Ugo da Carpi said by Bartsch to be after a drawing by Raphael for the fresco 'David kills Goliath' which was, painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the eleventh bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Lettered with attribution of composition to Raphael and the printmaker's name in a fictive frame surrounding the image. Trimmed to frame. On watermarked paper. Second state; a rare early impression.
